Privacy Policy
Indiana Learns respects your privacy and believes that the best way to serve you on the Internet is with honesty, accountability, and adherence to legal standards. We are sensitive to your privacy and have structured our online activities to maximize your control over the disclosure of your own personally identifiable information. This Privacy Policy supplements our general Terms of Use Agreement. By using Indiana Learns’ site (the “Site”), you agree to be bound by the terms of this Privacy Policy and by the Terms of Use Agreement.
Changes to the Privacy Policy
Indiana Learns regularly reviews our Privacy Policy to ensure that it provides an appropriate level of protection for your personal information. If we make any substantial changes, we will notify you by posting a prominent announcement on our home page and by posting the date of the most recent revisions to the Privacy Policy on this page. Please return to this Privacy Policy from time to time to make sure that you are current and up-to-date on the policy, as your continued use of the Site indicates your agreement to the revised terms. Any changes to the Privacy Policy will become effective immediately upon being posted, unless we indicate otherwise.
Collection of Personal Information
Indiana Learns collects and stores varying types of information about you depending on your activities when visiting the Site. However, Indiana Learns will collect no personally identifiable information about you when you visit the Site unless you voluntarily choose to provide that information (for example, by sending us an e-mail or by completing an online application for one of our Fellowship programs).
Browsing the Site. If during your visit you browse the Site, read pages, or download information, only anonymous information is collected automatically. Anonymous information is not personally identifiable and includes information such as: the name of the domain and host from which you access the Internet (for example, aol.com); the Internet Protocol (“IP”) address of the computer you are using (an IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer by your Internet Service Provider); the browser software you use and your operating system; and the Internet address of the Web site from which you linked directly to this Site. Such anonymous information is not treated as personal information. Indiana Learns and its Site operators may collect anonymous information through the use of cookies or by other means. This anonymous information is collected and used to measure the number of visitors accessing the various Web pages of this Site and to make the Site more useful to you and other visitors. Generally, we delete this information after one (1) year.
Voluntarily Identifying Yourself. If you choose to identify yourself by sending an email, for example, the Site will collect and store personally identifiable information. Personally identifiable information may include your name, address, telephone number, and email address. Any personal information you provide is submitted at your discretion. However, some uses of this Site may be limited should you decide not to disclose such personal information (for example, requesting additional information about Indiana Learns’ programs or activities by email).
Cookies
This Site uses standard Internet “cookie” technology. A cookie is a bit of information that is stored on a visitor’s hard drive that allows the Site to track how a visitor navigates the Site. This is similar to a traffic report: it tracks trends and behaviors, but does not personally identify individuals. With most Internet browsers or other software, you can erase cookies from your computer hard drive, block all cookies, or receive a warning before a cookie is stored. Please refer to your browser instructions or help screen to learn more about these functions. If you reject cookies, your use of our Site may be limited.
Use of Personal Information
Indiana Learns may use your personal information for the following purposes: to provide easy access every time you return to the Site without requiring re-entry of information; to keep you informed about programs in which you may have interest; to administer and make improvements to the Site; to collect demographic information; and/or to analyze the collected information. We generally will retain your personal information for five (5) years following your last visit to the Site or until such time as we no longer have a use for it.
Indiana Learns works closely with consultants, agencies, schools, and other nonprofit organizations that may perform functions on our behalf, such as providing program information to our visitors, preparing requests for proposals, evaluating programs, sending email, and managing data. In most cases, these entities have access to your personal information only to the extent necessary to perform their functions and may not use it for any other purpose. Other than for the specific purposes set forth in this Privacy Policy, we will not disclose your personal information to any third parties unless we obtain your prior consent or are legally compelled to do so.
Linking to Third Party Web Sites
This Site contains links to sites operated by third parties. These links are provided to you for informational purposes only; once you connect with another site by choosing a link, you will no longer be on Indiana Learns’ Site. The posting of third party sites does not represent Indiana Learns’ endorsement or support of the linked organization, its programs or services, or the content included on its site. Please review each linked site’s privacy policy. If you do not agree to be bound by the terms of the policy governing that site, terminate your visit to that site. We are not responsible for the privacy policies, practices, or content of sites operated by third parties. For more information about linking to third party sites, please review our Terms of Use Agreement.
